Rules & Prizes

General Rules

  • Balls and putters not provided by the respective courses are prohibited.

  • Maximum score for a single hole is five (5).

  • If your ball leaves the playing surface or comes to a stop in a hazard, you may move ball with a one stroke penalty

  • Balls may be moved seven (7) inches from side railings without penalty.

  • All scorecards must be signed and returned to the Director at the completion of the tournament. 

  • A tie for WJC champion will be decided by a sudden death playoff beginning at the first hole at Hago's

Mixed doubles champions Lowest combined score over 72-holes for two individuals sleeping together on a regular basis.

- that wonderful feeling of accomplishing something together.  (aw!)

The Ladies Bounty

The Walter J. has never and will never award a separate trophy for ladies.  The Invitational is a test of hand-eye coordination and mental endurance.  As there is no appreciable difference between the sexes on these two qualities, there is no reason why a female should be unable to become WCJI Champion.  Sadly, the fairer sex has yet to find a champion or even a serious challenger for the title.  With an eye towards encouraging stronger efforts, the Commissioner has offered an additional prize to the first lady to claim the Walter J. Corbett trophy.  The prize will increase by an increment of $50 each year until it is claimed.
